General Description

Our work is a combination of individual contributions, collaborative teamwork, and inspired spiritual insight. Because we are a small staff, there is need for both breadth of knowledge and specialization based on the strengths of the individual team members. All staff members take calls and participate in processing grant cases. All staff contribute to the administrative and housekeeping tasks associated with a small office.

Successful candidates will embrace collaboration while also demonstrating initiative. They will possess a high degree of professionalism, attention to detail, and service orientation. They will embrace change and be eager to take on new challenges. They will continuously grow in their metaphysical approach to all aspects of the work.

Grant Manager

Job Type: Full-Time   Location: Kansas City   Salary Range: $50K‑$55K   Start Date: Immediate

Primary Responsibilities

Administers grants which includes:

  • Conducting phone interviews with requesters in a manner consistent with the practice of Christian Science.
  • Collecting and organizing applications and related paperwork for presentation to the grant committee.
  • Collecting and summarizing grant data in a database.
  • Communicating grant decisions by phone and email.
  • Providing Christianly Scientific customer service to callers.
  • Collecting and reporting fruitage.

Participates as a vital member of a team:

  • Contributing metaphysically through individual prayer, participation in daily metaphysical meetings, completing metaphysical assignments.
  • Participating on the grant committee.
  • Participating on and leading ad hoc project teams.
  • Continuously learning and expanding thought to be of greater service.

Qualifications

  • Membership in The Mother Church required.
  • Branch church membership expected.
  • Class instruction in Christian Science preferred.
  • Ten years professional work experience.

Basic Requirements

  • Sincere practice of Christian Science with desire to help others.
  • Radical reliance on Christian Science both within and outside of the office.
  • Discretion, integrity, and morality both within and outside of the office.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent business writing.
  • Strong computer skills – word processing, spread sheets, database (data entry and reports).
  • Organizational skills – organizing and prioritizing disparate data.
  • Numeracy – working with numbers and interpreting financial data.
  • Excellence orientation – high standards of performance, follow-through, attention to detail, etc.
  • Teamwork and initiative – desire to collaborate, share work, and assume new responsibilities.
  • Coaching and mentoring.

Professional Skills

Significant professional experience in at least one of the following areas:

  • Public speaking, training, consulting, facilitation, or OD.
  • Data analysis, evaluation, and/or database management.
  • Expertise in healthcare policy – insurance, government, and/or legal.
  • Expertise in non-profit accounting, law, or management.
  • Project management, business management, and/or entrepreneurial experience.

Grant Coordinator

Assists in administering grants:

  • Collecting and organizing applications and related paperwork for presentation to the grant committee.
  • Collecting and summarizing grant data in a database.
  • Communicating grant decisions by phone and email.
  • Providing Christianly Scientific customer service to callers.
  • Collecting and reporting fruitage.

Assists with administrative and financial tasks such as:

  • Processing mail.
  • Maintaining database mailing lists.
  • Entering financial data and generating reports.

Participates as a vital member of a team:

  • Contributing metaphysically through individual prayer, participation in daily metaphysical meetings, completing metaphysical assignments.
  • Participating on the grant committee.
  • Participating on and leading ad hoc project teams.
  • Continuously learning and expanding thought to be of greater service.
