Accounting Administrator. The primary responsibility of the Accounting Administrator is to assist the Accounting Manager with the smooth functioning of The Principle Foundation’s financial activities. He/she is also responsible for organizing, reviewing and reconciling accounts, and taking up tasks related to bookkeeping and payroll. Accounting experience is preferred. Experience in financial and administrative processes, servant leadership skills, problem solving, customer service, and systems thinking are essential. Also required (in an office setting and remotely) is an ability to manage the functions of, and work collaboratively with, non-accounting staff to ensure the financial accuracy and integrity of granting programs, payroll, state registrations, and all other financial activities of the Foundation, including working with auditors, banking and investment organizations, and various vendors.

General Description

Our work is a combination of individual contributions, collaborative teamwork, and inspired spiritual insight. Because our staff is located remotely around the United States and locally in the Overland Park, Kansas, office, there is need for both breadth of knowledge and specialization based on the strengths of the individual team members. All staff members take calls and participate in processing grant cases.

They will need little supervision once they are on-boarded and trained in their initial role and duties. They will embrace change and be eager to take on new challenges. Accounting Administrator

Job Type: Full-time  
Location: Overland Park, Kansas (highly preferred; relocation package available)
This may also be a remote position, requiring a minimum of five days or more per month in the National Office in coordination with the Accounting Manager.
Starting Salary: $70,000
Start Date: Immediately
Reports to: Accounting Manager

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Pray daily for The Principle Foundation including its mission and activities
  • Maintains non-profit accounting systems to ensure the work is done with a high level of detail and accuracy (financial statements/ledgers, expenses, income, invoices, journal entries, etc.)
  • Handles grant payments for multiple funds, mainly via ACH, check, PayPal, credit card, and Western Union
  • Coordinates and handles the processing of donations (contributions via check and electronic), ensuring timely and accurate accounting entries; making deposits; preparing and sending tax acknowledgments. This includes training, directing, and running reports for non-accounting staff as needed
  • Assists with accounts payable processing for The Principle Foundation, the National Fund for Christian Science Nursing, and The Principle Foundation Extended Services
  • Helps manage the Foundation’s expense reporting system. Requires a proficiency in Excel
  • Manages account reconciliations
  • Assists with annual audit activities
  • Collects and analyzes financial data and prepares reports as requested by the Accounting Manager and/or Executive Director. This includes consulting and partnering with contract accountants to ensure financial reporting is transparent and consistent with generally accepted accounting principles
  • Communicates regularly with vendors within the Christian Science community – primarily the business managers at Christian Science nursing care facilities and organizations, Christian Science nurses, and Christian Science practitioners
  • Assists with special projects that support the Foundation, and performs other tasks as assigned

Basic Requirements

  • Possesses a demonstrable knowledge of, love for, and practice of Christian Science
  • Recognizes the spiritual nature of this work and readily handles issues prayerfully
  • Maintains confidentiality and upholds ethical principles
  • Has relevant work experience with financial and administrative processes
  • Manifests a high degree of individual initiative and problem-solving abilities, as well as professionalism, attention to detail, follow-through, and thoroughness
  • Demonstrates computer/technology skills and an aptitude for learning new software/process flows
  • Possesses excellent communication abilities
  • Manages the work both in person and via Zoom

Additional Useful Skills/Experience (any one of these is a plus)

  • Non-profit accounting
  • AccuFund, Zoho Creator, or Box
  • Donor management systems and/or grant management systems. Database implementation.
  • Document control and/or audit experience
  • Ability to represent data graphically; infographics
  • Investments and finance
  • Payroll
  • Other distinct skills that would contribute to our team – web development, technical writing, project management, donor relations, foreign languages.

Qualifications

  • Membership in The Mother Church required
  • Branch church membership expected
  • Primary Class instruction in Christian Science preferred
